SUMMARY
In this full-day excursion, you will discover the beautiful mountain region of Liébana. We will drive to Fuente Dé, where you will enjoy some free time to take the Cable Car to go up to Picos de Europa if you wish (entrance fees not included).
You will also visit the Monastery of Santo Toribio, one of the four holy places of Christianity for hosting the Lignum Crucis. Finally, we will arrive at the village of Potes, the capital of the region, and considered one of the most beautiful towns in Spain for its cobbled streets, stone houses, and bridges. In Potes, you will enjoy some free time for lunch and shopping if you wish.

It was also great to have Gabriele as our tour guide because she is very kind, and very knowledgeable about the history and culture of the places we went, and we learned a lot from her.
Gabriele was also very nice to get the tickets for all the places we went, and she made us a reservation at El Oso restaurant, and that was very helpful.
You will be very satisfied if you have a tour with Gabriele because she makes everything go well, and that’s you want from an excellent tour guide!
The trip into Picos de Europa via Potes is really incredible and I was very pleased that we got to really interact with and be in the mountains for a portion of the excursion when we took the cable car up. Potes itself was very beautiful and you’ll enjoy walking around and taking in the scenery, as well as ordering some delicious cachopo (a food typical of the area).
The area is fantastically beautiful and I appreciated not having to drive myself on the winding road needed to arrive at Potes, which I consider a great benefit.
Staff contacted me in advance to confirm pickup details, and they got us each from our respective hotels. And they got us back at a very reasonable hour in the evening. I always felt like there was the excursion staff was conscious of our experience, and I really couldn’t recommend this company enough.
If you want a day trip out of Santander or somewhere close by, I wouldn’t hesitate to choose this option.
The lunch in Potes was excellent. It was fun getting to try some local cuisine. We had a great view of the town and river from our table.
We finished our tour with Soplao cave. While the cave is incredible, we were a little disappointed that they do not allow photos inside.
Overall, we highly recommend this excursion. It is a must-do on your next trip to Cantabria!
the ride to picos is a must and you can eat at the top cafe with amazing views. Potes is quite commercial and a bit expensive.
